SPOC FC Appoints Geoff Riddle as Senior Coach
I am delighted to announce the appointment of Geoff Riddle as SPOC’s new Senior Coach.
Geoff’s appointment is for a two-year minimum term encompassing the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Geoff takes over as Senior Coach from Chris Hall, who recently advised of his imminent relocation interstate for work and family reasons. Geoff will take over as Senior Coach immediately.
SPOC Chairman Guy Roberts said, “Geoff’s appointment follows a recruitment process where we had a number of applications from experienced coaches within the Adelaide Footy League and SANFL. Having experienced success in the 2018 season, the Committee is determined to continue with a coach capable of delivering similar success, which means similar coaching philosophies and programs. In Geoff, we have found someone who will take our existing senior playing group, continue with similar coaching methods and develop them further for future success”.
The new installed Coach said, “I am excited about the opportunity that’s been presented to me by SPOC. SPOC is a proud club with rich history and I have some big shoes to fill, but I look forward to the challenge that presents us in Division 1. I’ll be doing my best to ensure this football club can continue to grow and maintain success”.
Geoff’s close association with Chris Hall means Geoff already has a good understanding of SPOC, its coaching methods and its senior playing group. Geoff helped Chris coach the team on a couple of occasions in 2017 and has taken a keen interest subsequently.
Geoff has coached within the Adelaide Footy League previously and the SANFL footy environments. He has been a Development Coach with Norwood Football Club in 2014 and 2015 culminating in him being an Assistant Coach with their 2015 Under 18s Premiership team which produced a few AFL & Senior SANFL players. Most recently, Geoff has been working with Sturt Football Club where he is a 2-time League Premiership Assistant Coach under the guidance of Martin Mattner and part of a very successful team environment and culture. Geoff is a passionate footy person and is employed in a management capacity with the SANFL overseeing its junior football competition.
Geoff is looking forward to taking on the SPOC senior coaching role and I know that the player and supporter base will welcome him, his wife Kristy and son Tai into the Club. The Committee is excited about returning to Division 1 in the Adelaide Footy League and Geoff’s appointment will be an important driver of success next season and beyond.
